Is it possible to have a recalled tire repaired or replaced?

Yes, the law mandates that tire manufacturers repair or replace tires that the consumer bought within five years of the time at which it was determined that the tires were defective. The consumer will not be charged for the repair or replacement. However, in order to have one’s recalled tire repaired or replaced, consumers are required to take the tire to the dealer within 60 days of being notified of the recall by the manufacturer.

If replacements are unavailable, then one must acquire from the dealer a written acknowledgment. One must retain the acknowledgment letter until such time as when informed by the dealer that there are tires available.
