WTSP Channel 10 Tampa Bay News reported recently that three people were transported to local hospitals in the Clearwater area following a serious motor vehicle accident on the evening of Friday, April 2, 2021.
According to information provided by officials with the Clearwater Police Department, the incident began on Friday, April 2, 2021 between 10:15 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) at the intersection of Gulf-To-Bay Boulevard and Keene Road. A Ford F-350 heavy-duty pickup truck was northbound on Keene Road and was attempting to make a left turn onto Gulf-To-Bay Boulevard when it crashed into an Acura southbound on Keene Road.
Both drivers and the Acura passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, the Acura driver was medically transported by air to a local hospital while the Ford driver and the Acura passenger were both taken by ambulance to a hospital. Both cars exhibited severe damage in the incident, and one had its roof torn off by the forcer of the impact.
The intersection and surrounding roadways were shut down for hours as a result of the accident, but eventually reopened to traffic. The accident remains under an active, ongoing investigation by the Clearwater Police Department. Due to Marsy’s Law, no identities of the victims were released by first responders.
