Sun Coast News, a news site serving the Florida sun coast area, reported Wednesday on a 64-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a tragic accident in Trinity Tuesday afternoon.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the incident happened about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of FL State Route 54 and Duck Slough Boulevard. An 86-year-old woman was driving a sedan eastbound on FL S R 54 in the left turn lane, while a 64-year-old New Port Richey man was westbound in the outside lane on his motorcycle.
The sedan turned left, intending to proceed north on Duck Slough Road, but entered the path of the motorcycle and caused a head-on collision. The motorcyclist was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital for trauma care but succumbed to his injuries after being transported.
The sedan driver suffered from minor injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, and her passenger, a man who is 88 years of age, reported no injuries. Both are residents of New Port Richey.
Law enforcement did not provide any additional information regarding the identities, cause, condition, or investigation of the accident. According to published reports, there have been no charges filed as of yet in this tragic incident.
