Channel 3 WEAR TV ABC News reported on a fatal wreck in Crestview that backed up traffic for hours Monday morning.
According to representatives of the Florida Highway Patrol, the wreck happened early Monday morning on State Road 85 in Okaloosa County, near the intersection of SR 85 and Live Oak Church Road. A work van driven by a 26-year-old Crestview man collided with the rear end of a dump truck. The van driver died at the scene of the wreck, while the driver of the dump truck, a 55-year-old man, was taken to North Okaloosa Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The wreck shut down the northbound lanes of SR 85 for several hours. The accident is currently under investigation.
CBS Channel 4 News Gainesville reported that Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to an injury wreck in Micanopy Monday. The accident occurred around noon on the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near mile marker 377 in Alachua County and reportedly involved a semi overturning. Troopers reported that the left lanes of both the north and southbound sides of the interstate were closed as Florida Highway Patrol troopers worked the scene, clearing wreckage and investigating the accident, and congestion led to recommendations that drivers find an alternate route. The accident is currently under investigation.
