Accidents Mar Florida Weekend

CBS Channel 12 News reports that an eight-vehicle accident in Port St. Lucie on Saturday, November 7 shut down parts of a major local thoroughfare last week while crews worked to clean up and investigate the massive pileup. 

Port St. Lucie police reported that one person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The accident shut down the westbound lanes of Port St. Lucie Boulevard near SW Del Rio Boulevard. Eastbound lanes were reportedly not affected by the accident. 

ABC WEAR Channel 3 News reported recently that Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to a fatal accident in Pensacola on Saufley Field Road that same weekend. 

That incident occurred on Sunday, November 8 near Regalo Drive and 5225 Saufley Field Road, around 8:30 a.m. in the morning. Florida Highway Patrol officials stated that the crash was a fatality, and Sauflety Field Road was temporarily closed for investigation and cleanup. However, no further details have been released by authorities about the incident, the identity of or number of victims, or any other pertinent information relating to this wreck. 

With traffic fatalities rising across Florida recently, FHP representatives wish to remind the public of the importance of driving with care and caution and wearing their seatbelts.
