Young boy suffers head injury at a Florida sports park

According to the Brevard County Fire Rescue, on March 14, a child was airlifted to a trauma center after he suffered a severe head injury at the Space Coast Field of Dreams Sports Park in West Melbourne, Florida. No information is available about how the injury occurred or the condition of the child. Space Coast Field of Dreams, a non-profit organization that manages the park, is a sports park for children and adults with disabilities.

There are two categories of head injuries: those involving external injuries, generally concerning the scalp, and internal head injuries, which may involve the skull, the blood vessels inside the skull, or the brain. In most instances, falls resulting in a blow to the head only injure the scalp and are not life threatening.
