WCTV CBS News reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident occurred on Wednesday, January 27 along Interstate 10 in the Tallahassee area that caused the deaths of both the driver and the passenger of a vehicle and clogged up traffic in the area for a significant length of time.
According to officials from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, between 11:25 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), near mile marker 196 in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Tallahassee. A vehicle traveling west on I-10 lost control of the vehicle, for reasons still under investigation but possibly related to the wet and hazardous driving conditions, and slid off the road, colliding with a large aluminum pole.
Responding troopers stated that two occupants of the vehicle, one 60 years of age and one 65 years of age, perished in the unfortunate incident. The crash caused traffic to clog up in the area due to the highway being almost completely blocked except for one lane, although all congestion was cleared by 1:00 p.m. EST.
The accident is currently being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol. The identities of those involved have not been released to the press.
