Local Channel 10 News reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident occurred in the late night hours of Wednesday, January 27 in Oakland Park outside a local Goodwill store that killed a local motorist.
According to officials from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, between 11:25 p.m. and 11:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), near a Goodwill store at 1097 E. Oakland Park Boulevard. The accident involved a single white Infiniti that was headed west on Oakland Park Boulevard before, for unknown reasons still under investigation, it veered off the roadway and struck a bus stop bench, then hit a tree and pole before coming to a rest. The vehicle reportedly erupted in fire on impact.
Onlookers described the car as so mangled it was impossible at first to determine the make and model of the car.
The accident is currently being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol. The identities of those involved have not been released to the press.
Local authorities have not yet identified the driver of the vehicle, who was declared dead at the scene of the accident despite attempts by onlookers to rescue the trapped motorist.
