Woman Dies After Hillsborough Avenue Wreck

Patch.com reported recently that a Tampa woman has been killed by a tragic incident on the afternoon of Sunday, November 13 in which her SUV was struck by another SUV being driven recklessly down a busy local thoroughfare. 

According to officials from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal motor vehicle accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa. A Tampa man, 59 years of age, was heading east on Hillsborough Avenue and, according to FHP investigators, was driving at an excessive rate of speed while erratically changing lanes and swerving. Near the intersection of Hillsborough Avenue and Countryway Boulevard, the driver lost control for unknown reasons still under investigation and crossed the center median into the westbound travel lanes. 

In the west lanes, the SUV collided with another SUV westbound on Hillsborough Avenue, driven by a woman 51 years of age. The woman was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

Officials from the Florida Highway Patrol did not confirm whether the driver of the SUV that caused the accident will face charges for the accident. They were also unable to disclose the identity of the victim per Florida Highway Patrol policy.
