Patch.com reports on a car accident in Westchase, Florida, that killed three people Tuesday morning and is being investigated by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office
Around 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, a silver 2020 Chevrolet Malibu was northbound on Sheldon Road in Westchase when it ran a red light and was struck on the rear of the driver’s side by a white 2017 Nissan Altima eastbound on West Linebaugh Avenue. The Malibu driver lost control and the vehicle collided with a utility pole, causing all three occupants to be ejected from the vehicle.
All three occupants of the Malibu were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The Altima driver was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries.
Jacksonville also suffered several serious accidents Tuesday morning, according to News 4 Jacksonville, including two that snarled traffic on the I-295 Beltway. All northbound I-295 traffic was forced to detour at 103rd Street for hours while the Florida Highway Patrol investigated and cleared a wreck near Wilson Boulevard. The accident resulted in three injuries, including one in which Jacksonville Fire Rescue had to cut the injured person out of the car. Another I-295 wreck occurred near Normandy Boulevard, involving a police cruiser, with at least one injury reported.
