Head-on crashes make up only about 2% of all crashes throughout the United States, yet these catastrophic crashes cause over 10% of all motor vehicle deaths. This is due to their nature; head-on collisions tend to happen at faster speeds and most often occur in rural rather than urban areas. Some of the most common causes of head-on collisions are DUI, distracted, and drowsy driving.
In Florida, although the state does not hold a top ten spot for states with the most car accidents, it does take a place in a list with most car crash fatalities. Florida ranked 3rd in the number of fatal car crashes in 2017.

A box truck traveling behind the sedan rear-ended the vehicle. The box truck then veered into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a Dodge Ram pickup being driven by Jeff Power.
Power and his daughter, who was a backseat passenger, were flown to Jackson South Medical Center in Miami. Both were in critical condition following the crash.
Neither the driver nor the passenger of the Kia suffered from any injuries. The driver of the box truck suffered from minor injuries.
