Trib Live recently reported on their website that a multi-vehicle crash along Route 30 in Hempfield on Monday, June 28, 2021, caused officials to close the highway’s westbound lanes temporarily.
In a statement, Hempfield officials said that the crash happened at approximately 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of Route 30 and North Greengate Road. So far, investigators believe that a total of three vehicles were involved in the crash.
Emergency crews with West Hempfield Fire and Dispatch responded to the scene of the 3-vehicle accident. Officials say that at least one person had to be extricated from the wreckage of their vehicle by firefighters.
One person was rushed to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of injuries they suffered in the crash. One person is listed in critical condition, while a second person was also taken to the hospital following the accident.
According to a statement given to reporters by a spokesperson for the Mutual Aid Ambulance Service, the second crash victim is currently listed in stable condition.
So far, neither the West Hempfield Police Department nor the state patrol has given any further information as to what may have been the cause of the accident.
Investigators with the State Police’s Greensburg Office will be investigating the cause of the crash.
