First Coast ABC NBC On Your Side News reported recently that a local veterinary surgeon was killed in Jacksonville last Monday evening in a tragic vehicle crash.
First Coast No More Homeless Pets and other organizations identified a woman killed in a crash in St Johns County as a veterinary surgeon who has worked with FCNMHP for several years. The woman, 37 years of age, was the head of the surgery department for the organization, which provides affordable veterinary care for the community.
The accident occurred on Monday, December 7 on Interstate 95, north of State Road 16, as she was riding a 2019 Suzuki motorcycle. For unknown reasons still under investigation, she traveled into the path of a 2008 Freightliner semi-trailer and was struck. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and the investigation is ongoing according to officers from the Florida Highway Patrol. The truck driver was uninjured.
The woman was reportedly training to become a licensed pilot as well as being a respected and renowned veterinarian who saved many lives. Local motorcyclists organized a motorcycle ride in her honor last Sunday; no details have been released as to how many people attended.
