WTVX West Palm The CW Channel 34 News reported recently that a motor vehicle accident in Fort Pierce led to a truck catching fire on the Florida Turnpike early on Wednesday evening.
According to officials with the St. Lucie County Fire District, the incident happened between 5:20 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. near mile marker 151 of the Florida Turnpike. Responding emergency crews responded to the call to find a pickup truck fully engulfed in flame on the shoulder of the highway. There has been no official word of what caused the fire or whether there were any injuries.
The Suncoast News reported that a 40-year-old Hudson woman was killed in a three-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon while riding a motorcycle.
The incident occurred around 1:50 p.m. on December 9, according to officials from the Florida Highway Patrol. The motorcyclist was reportedly traveling west on County Line Road approaching Spring Time Street when the incident occurred. An SUV failed to stop at an intersection and collided with her, sending her careening into a pickup truck. The SUV driver then fled the accident scene.
The SUV driver faces charges of DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death.
