The Treasure Coast Palm reported recently that four people were killed in a tragic motor vehicle accident that took place along Interstate 95 just south of Gatlin Boulevard in Port St Lucie on the morning of Sunday, March 14, 2021.
According to officials with the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place on Sunday, March 14, 2021 between 4:25 a.m. and 4:35 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) in the southbound travel lanes of Interstate 95 just south of Gatlin Boulevard in Port St Lucie, FL. For unknown reasons still under investigation, a van stopped in the middle of the right and center southbound lanes of I-95. A pickup truck slammed into the side of the stopped van, after which a tractor-trailer slammed into both vehicles. The van was sent careening into the left shoulder of the highway while the tractor-trailer dragged the pickup truck several hundred feet down the highway before it could stop.
The driver of the van, a woman from Norcross, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene, as was one of her passengers, a woman from Ormond Beach, Florida, and the driver of the pickup truck, a man from Port St Lucie. Another van passenger, a man from Mission Viejo, California, was taken to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident.
