CBS Channel 4 News reported recently that a truck driver miraculously escaped with only minor scratches and injuries after a terrifying rollover accident that took place on Interstate 75 in the early morning hours of Monday, April 19, 2021.
According to a press release issued by officials with the Florida Highway Patrol as well as local law enforcement officials and members of the High Springs Fire Department, the incident occurred between 4:50 a.m. and 4:55 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, April 17, 2021 near mile marker 400 on Interstate 75 in Alachua County. First responders responding to an accident call found a semi-truck that had come to a halt well off the paved roadway with severe damage to the cab and passenger compartment. The driver had been freed from the wreckage by passersby prior to the arrival of first responders.
The driver was medically transported to a local hospital as a purely precautionary measure but escaped with only scratches, dings, and bruises, according to reports from the scene. The accident remains under an active and ongoing investigation, and no other specifics were released as to the cause of the accident or if any other vehicles were involved.
