The Daily American reported recently that a man from Berlin was tragically killed in a fatal motor vehicle accident in Sarasota County, Florida on the afternoon of Friday, April 16, 2021.
According to a press release issued by officials with local law enforcement agencies, the incident took place on Friday, April 16, 2021 between 5:25 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) near Wellen Park in Sarasota County, Florida. A woman from Rotunda West, Florida, 38 years of age, was attempting to pass other traffic when she misjudged relative movement and collided with a vehicle driven by a man from Berlin, 86 years of age, with a woman 84 years of age, also from Berlin, in the passenger seat. The collision was forceful enough that the Berliners’ vehicle overturned; the Berlin man was not wearing a seatbelt.
A third vehicle, driven by a man from Englewood 24 years of age with an Englewood man 22 years of age in the passenger seat, was also struck by the Rotunda West woman. Neither of them were injured.
The woman driving the initial vehicle was seriously injured and was booked into Sarasota County Jail for driving without a valid license after being treated for her injuries, and the Berlin woman was also seriously injured.
