The Villages News reported on a fatal traffic accident south of Webster that shut down traffic for a period of time late Saturday night.
Around 11 pm on September 27, a Tampa man, 27 years of age, was behind the wheel of an SUV traveling north on State Road 471, south of State Road 50. He began a pass of another vehicle and caused a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer headed southbound on the roadway, driven by a 64-year-old woman from Jackson, Georgia, according to preliminary accident reports from the Florida Highway Patrol. This caused the SUV to overturn and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The truck driver, however, was uninjured.
The Sun Englewood reported that a 65-year-old Port Charlotte man was killed the next day in a motorcycle accident, around 3 pm on Sunday near Oceanspray Boulevard and State Road 776 in Englewood East.
The motorcyclist and a 29-year-old passenger were eastbound on State Road 776 (South McCall Road) approaching Oceanspray Boulevard. They began to turn right onto Oceanspray. However, a 52-year-old from Rotonda West was westbound on the SR 776 access road and pulled out into the path of the motorcycle, causing a collision. The motorcyclist was killed and the passenger suffered critical injuries.
