The Orlando Sentinel reported recently that a fatal crash took place near Yeehaw Junction in Osceola County, Florida on Monday. November 30, just hours after another multi-fatality crash happened in the same area.
According to an official with the Florida Highway Patrol, a driver from Cumming, GA was driving west on State Road 60 near Kenansville Road, shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening, when he attempted to execute a pass of slower-moving cars in front of his vehicle by entering the eastbound lane.
The driver struck a trailer being towed by a Chevy pickup truck and then collided head-on with another Chevy pickup truck being towed by a Vero Beach man, 47 years of age. The Georgia man was pronounced dead at the scene while the Vero Beach driver remains in critical condition. The driver of the truck towing the trailer, a Pompano Beach woman 57 years of age, remains uninjured.
The accident remains under investigation, as does a wreck earlier Monday on Kenansville Road, just south of SR 60, which claimed the lives of three Florida drivers and was also caused by a passing attempt. That wreck involved an SUV driven by a Palm Beach woman and a pickup truck occupied by two people from Okeechobee.
