The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported recently that a woman from Hollywood, Florida was arrested on the evening of Friday, May 7, 2021 after causing two accidents within seven minutes while allegedly driving under the influence (DUI) of intoxicants, one of which caused fatal injuries to a pedestrian.
According to a press release issued by officials with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the incidents occurred between 10:00 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Friday, May 7, 2021 in Pompano Beach, with the first accident occurring along the 200 block of Northwest 31st Avenue.
A Hollywood woman, 27 years of age, struck a pedestrian along the road, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by first responders. She then allegedly fled the scene. Several minutes later, the woman allegedly collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Northwest 10th Court and Northwest 23rd Terrace, and responding officers noted her car matched the description of the one involved in the hit-and-run. Deputies arrested the woman and her passenger after she attempted to flee on foot.
The woman is being charged with DUI, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, failure to register a vehicle, and no valid driver’s license.
