News Channel 4 Jax reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident occurred on Friday, January 22 along Interstate 95, just south of the state border between Florida and Georgia, which led to the death of a Georgia man.
According to officials from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Friday, January 22, 2021, between 9:50 p.m. and 10:10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), in Nassau County, Florida. For unknown reasons still under investigation, a Folkston man driving an SUV, 41 years of age, came to a halt in the far right lane of the interstate near mile marker 381. A second vehicle, driven by a man 37 years of age with a passenger 59 years of age, crashed into the stopped vehicle, causing both vehicles to careen into the emergency guard rail multiple times.
The driver of the SUV died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the accident. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle, both of whom were from Canada, sustained only minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation and Florida Highway Patrol states they have not yet determined why the man came to a halt in the traffic lanes.
