The Jackson County Floridian reported recently that a motor vehicle accident along Florida State Route 20 in Calhoun County killed a man from Ponce de Leon, Florida on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 5, 2021.
According to a press release issued by officials with the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred between 12:30 p.m. and 12:40 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) Tuesday, May 5, 2021 in the eastbound lane of State Road 20 in Calhoun County. A man from Ponce de Leon, 68 years of age, was driving a logging truck east on SR 20 when for unknown reasons still under investigation he veered onto the right shoulder, which caused the log truck to overturn.
The load of logs was ejected from the trailer, sending them crashing into the rear of the cab, and the trailer impacted a utility pole. The man was killed in the accident.
ClickOrlando.com reported that a pedestrian was killed by a motor vehicle in an accident that took place in Orange City early on the morning of Friday, May 7, 2021. The accident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on the 600 block of Veteran’s Memorial Parkway, which was closed so that the Orange City Police Department could investigate the incident. The accident remains under investigation.
