    • Motor vehicle accidents are the number one killer of teens; claiming 3,000 lives annually.


  • In 2011, 2,105 teen drivers were involved in fatal crashes, of that number 45% died as a result.



  • Just in the first six months of 2013 these numbers are increasing by at least 20%.



  • The first six months of unsupervised driving by teens are the most dangerous.



  What Parents Can Do To Protect Their Teens

    • Studies have shown that parents who have had a serious talk with their teens about driving responsibly have decreased the numbers of teen drivers in accidents.


  • Children develop their perceptions about driving as they travel with their parents. Parents are the role models and teachers on sharing the road, respecting and obeying traffic laws.



  • Studies with parents who drove with in-car cameras have shown that teens drive in similar ways as their parents.
