A pregnant woman was struck and killed in Miami-Dade last week trying to cross the street with her husband. The accident occurred just after 10 p.m. on the 27th of November, 2010.
Cecelia L. Chinn, a 26-year-old who was seven months pregnant, was trying to cross Kendall Drive near Southwest 122nd Avenue with her husband when she was hit by a 2008 Chevy Cobalt.
Chinn, who landed on the car’s hood and hit the windshield before rolling back onto the pavement, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. She and her unborn child died shortly before 1 a.m. the next day.
Chinn’s husband made it across the road without being injured. The driver of the Cobalt, 23-year-old Linda M. McKenna, stayed on the scene. Police are reporting that she had a green light at the time of the crash.
No charges against McKenna have been filed. Our sympathies go out to all of those who have been affected by this tragic Florida accident.
