On October, 13, 2011, a tractor trailer accident in Boca Raton, FL occurred. According to officials, the wreck took place on Interstate 95 northbound between Palmetto Park Road and Glades Road.
Boca Raton Firefighters arrived on scene to this early Thursday morning crash to find a passenger vehicle and a semi truck had collided. The wreck caused fuel to leak from the tractor trailer's tank.
Police had to shut down two lanes of the interstate to clean up the fuel that had leaked from the trucks saddle tank. Crews used a pump designed to help collect the fuel that leaked on the ground. They estimated that about 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled, and that most of the fuel that spilled ended up on the grass shoulder and not on the interstate. It took about two hours to clean up this diesel spill, according to reports.
Authorities from the DOT, Florida DEP, and Hazmat were on scene to make sure that the spill was cleaned up properly.
There were no initial reports of serious injuries from this South Florida accident.
Chalik & Chalik is glad to hear that there were no reports of injuries, but would like to remind motorists that sometimes injuries creep up in the days and weeks following an accident. If there is any pain, make sure you see your doctor.
