A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper was hit and injured by a tractor trailer truck near Scottsmor, FL last week.
Sgt. Jeffrey Holmes was driving northbound on I-95 to see whether smoke from an area wildfire was obscuring visibility for drivers on the interstate.
Sgt. Holmes apparently got his answer when he was hit by a tractor trailer truck that continued north after hitting him from behind.
The semi truck should have damage on the front right side, according to Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes, and police continue to search for the hit-and-run driver.
Sgt. Holmes sustained minor injuries in the crash, and his vehicle was significantly damaged. The accident occurred around 5 a.m. north of Scottsmoor in southern Volusia County.
Our thoughts are with Sgt. Holmes as he recovers from his injuries. We hope the negligent driver is soon found.
