A costly Fort Lauderdale truck accident has left three dead and four others injured. The fatal wreck occurred last week on U.S. 27.
The accident happened when two cars, stopped side-by-side, were blocking both northbound lanes of the highway. A tractor trailer truck driven by 42-year-old Placid Ferdinand slammed into the back of the two vehicles.
Ileana E. Mira, 19, and Dairon Ledesma, 15, died instantly in the crash, but 19-year-old Anthony Perez died from his injuries later. Four other people, including three people in the cars and one riding in the truck, were also injured.
Police are still trying to determine the cause of the accident, and it's believed that drag racing may have been involved. A street racing gang was shut down just two weeks earlier on the same stretch of road.
Our sympathies go out to all of those who were affected by this tragic Florida car accident. We hope the police investigation reveals the true nature of the crash shortly.
