Three people, including two WPLG Channel 10 employees traveling in a TV truck, were injured in a rollover crash in Fort Lauderdale last week. The accident occurred near the intersection of Southeast Third Avenue and Sixth Street.
Photojournalist David Silver, who was driving the van, tried to make a U-turn on Sixth Street when a Jeep Cherokee hit the side of their vehicle, sending it toppling over. Silver's passenger, reporter Neki Mohan, was also injured in the crash.
Silver and Mohan were taken to Broward General Medical Center for minor injuries, along with the female driver of the Jeep. No life-threatening injuries resulted from the crash.
"It was very, very scary. I didn't see it coming. The truck flipped. I immediately just looked to David and just looked to see if he was OK," Neki said via phone from the hospital. "They had to cut us out through the windshield."
The news crew was on assignment at the time of the accident, headed to report on a firefighter demonstration. Silver was ticketed for his role related to the cause of the wreck.
We are glad no one was more-seriously injured in this Fort Lauderdale truck accident. Our thoughts are with all of those affected by the crash.
