A St. Johns woman, 57-year-old Robin Challberg, was killed in a three-vehicle wreck in Clay County. The accident happened around lunchtime on Monday.
Challberg was driving her 2002 Volkswagen on the eastbound side of County Road 220 in Orange Park when she was hit by a Toyota Camry that ran a red light.
Thanh Van Vo, the driver of the Toyota, of Orange Park, struck Challberg on the left side of the vehicle. Challberg's car spun out and collided with a Toyota driven by James West.
West was not injured in the accident. Vo and her passenger, 8-year-old Vy Nguyen, suffered minor injuries. Challberg was taken to Shands Hospital where she later died.
All the people involved in the accident were wearing their seat belts. Charges against Vo, who was the negligent driver in this collision, are still pending according to police.
Our sympathies go out to all of those involved in this tragic Florida wreck. We hope justice, whether through a criminal or civil case, is swift.
