On Tuesday, September 27th, 2011, high school students on board a South Florida school bus did not have an ordinary ride to school. Unfortunately, the 18 students on the bus were involved in a South Florida bus accident around 7:00 AM.
According to authorities, a white van collided with a Broward public school bus on the 3100 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard and then left the scene. The bus was on its way to Hallandale Beach High School when it was rear-ended by the van.
The driver of the van fled the scene, but the Broward Sheriff's Office reported that deputies found the hit-and-run driver at a nearby home in West Park and arrested him. They reportedly charged David Allan Dengler, the 30-year-old driver who struck the bus, for fleeing the scene of an accident with injuries.
According to the incident report, Dengler hit the back of the bus when he was attempting to change lanes. Dengler is being held on $3,500 bail.
The bus driver and a female student of Hallandale Beach High School were reported to have injuries and were taken to an area hospital for medical care. Their names were not released.
Chalik & Chalik would like to wish both the bus driver and student injured in this accident a full and quick recovery.
