At approximately 2:00 PM on Friday, November 18th, 2011, a South Florida woman was killed in a Florida hit-and-run accident. According to police, the accident happened on the southbound Palmetto Expressway near 74th Street.
Marta Miranda, the victim who died in the crash, was survived by her husband Juan. Juan Miranda told officials, “As I was exiting the Palmetto, I looked in the rear mirrors, and saw a square, black car.” He said that it appeared that the other car was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic.
That car ended up rear-ending the Miranda’s vehicle, sending their car into the dividing wall extremely hard. Sadly, both Mr. and Mrs. Miranda were injured in this crash and taken to an area hospital for medical treatment; however, Marta Miranda later died from her injuries. Juan Miranda is now recovering from his injuries.
The driver who hit their vehicle continued to drive away and fled the fatal accident scene. Police are asking anyone who may have information about this Miami-Dade crash to call the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Police are looking for a medium-sized, dark vehicle with damage to the right front-end.
Marta and Juan Miranda were married for over 50 years, and the family is hoping that anyone with any information can help bring the person responsible for this fatal accident to justice.
Chalik & Chalik is deeply saddened to hear of this fatal crash and would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Marta Miranda. We also encourage Floridians with any information to come forward.
