A man from Leesburg, FL, was killed in a two-vehicle car wreck just north of Orlando. The accident occurred at around 12:40 p.m. on October 18, 2010.
The fatal Florida car accident happened as the man, 28-year-old Charles Bernard Washington, was trying to elude the police. Authorities have not released why he was running in the first place.
Washington was driving away from squad cars southbound in a 1996 Chevrolet on U.S. Highway 441, near the intersection with State Road 44. Washington slammed into a northbound SUV turning onto SR 44.
Washington was ejected from his vehicle, and died at the scene of the accident. Two people occupying the SUV were injured in the crash, but their injuries do not seem to be life-threatening.
Our sympathies go out to all of those affected by this crash. We remind all drivers to be cautious on Orlando-area roads.
