Randy "Macho Man" Savage, 58, famous professional wrestler and Slim Jim pitchman, died last week in a single-vehicle car wreck in Seminole, FL.
According to police, Savage had a heart attack while driving his Jeep Wrangler, leaping a concrete median, veering into oncoming traffic and crashing head-on into a tree.
Savage died from his injuries at Largo Medical Center. His wife Lynn, who was in the car at the time of the accident, sustained minor injuries. They had just celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
World Wrestling Entertainment had the following to say about Savage's death: "WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of one of the greatest superstars of his time, Randy Poffo, aka Randy "Macho Man" Savage. Poffo was under contract with WWE from 1985 to 1993 and held both the WWE and Intercontinental Championships. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends. We wish a speedy recovery to his wife Lynn.
