On Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011, a Fort Lauderdale fatal hit-and-run crash occurred involving a motorcyclist. 52-year-old David Hughes, of Plantation, was traveling northbound in the 4500 block of North Federal Highway on his 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle when this accident took place.
According to police, the fatal crash occurred around 3:30 PM on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the driver who hit Hughes left the scene, causing police to look for the driver who caused Hughes to lose control of his motorcycle.
Hughes was transported to Broward General Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Witnesses to the accident described the car that hit Hughes as a gold or tan four-door 2000 Lexus.
Police did end up arresting a man in connection to this fatal motorcycle crash on Friday night. Joseph James, 25, was accused of leaving the scene of this fatal hit-and-run accident. He was released from jail Saturday morning on a $7,500 bond; however, further charges are still pending.
