One person was killed, another two injured, in an intersection car accident involving a police car in Orlando last week. The accident occurred around 4 a.m. at International Drive and Grand National Drive.
A black Chrysler sedan reportedly ran a red light headed east on International Drive, and was side-swiped by an Orlando Police Department squad car being driven by Officer Neal Chase.
The driver of the black sedan, 46-year-old Jean Daniel Edmond, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car, 28-year-old Max Jacques Jr., was taken with Chase to the Orlando Regional Medical Center.
There are no red light cameras installed in that intersection, and the camera in Chase's squad car was not turned on. Police investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
The roadway, which was closed after the accident, opened nearly four hours later. Our sympathies and thoughts go to all of those involved in this tragic accident.
