On Monday, November 28th, 2011, a fatal South Florida car crash occurred on Florida’s Turnpike, just south of Kissimmee. The Florida Highway Patrol said that a driver who was changing her CD was the cause of this fatal wreck.
After troopers investigated this crash, they found that a distracted driver was to blame for this tragic wreck. Karen LeForge, 55, of West Palm Beach, confessed to troopers that she was changing the disc in her CD player at the time of the crash. Her 2001 Pontiac Firebird drifted out of her lane and into the right lane where she collided with a 2000 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle (SUV).
Ida Henderson, 63, of Riviera Beach, was traveling south in her SUV Monday afternoon at about 2:50 PM when LeForge drifted into her lane. Sadly, the SUV overturned onto its roof, claiming Henderson’s life. Police indicated that Henderson was wearing her seatbelt, but she unfortunately died at the scene.
Henderson was traveling with passengers who suffered minor injuries.
Two lanes were closed at Mile Marker 237, just south of Kissimmee, as the wreckage was cleared and troopers were investigating the crash.
Chalik & Chalik is deeply saddened to hear of this tragic South Florida wreck and would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Ida Henderson. X Florida's Turnpike Kissimmee
