On Friday, September 9th, 2011, a Fort Lauderdale motorcycle accident occurred on the ramp connecting southbound Interstate 95 to westbound Interstate 595. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred closer to I-595, which runs parallel to the Marina Mile stretch of State Road 84.
According to authorities, the motorcyclist crashed and flipped over the wall of the ramp between the two highways. Osvaldo Dasilvia, of Boca Raton, was operating the motorcycle at the time of the crash. The 21-year-old motorcyclist went over the side, and police believe that the grassy/marshy wet area where the motorcyclist landed broke his fall.
Dasilvia did survive the fall but was seriously injured in the crash. He was transported to Broward General Medical Center on Friday night around 8:30 PM and is expected to make a recovery.
There have been other motorcycle crashes near this same spot that have resulted in fatalities. One deadly Fort Lauderdale motorcycle crash occurred on July 29th. The motorcycle crashed on the I-95 and I-595 interchange, and officials found two people dead below the ramp.
Another fatal South Florida motorcycle accident occurred on April 1st, when a motorcyclist died when he went over the ramp of the I-595 after crashing.
Chalik & Chalik would like to wish the victim in this recent motorcycle accident a fast and full recovery, and would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of the other motorcycle accident victims.
