On December 8th, 2011, two separate crashes in Fort Lauderdale clogged Interstate 95 in both directions. Authorities reported backups for both northbound and southbound commuters on this Thursday afternoon.
Police indicated that the first accident occurred around 3:00 PM and involved two vehicles. This crash took place on the northbound side of I-95, approaching Sunrise Boulevard. The Florida Highway Patrol said that one of the cars spun out and came to rest facing the concrete median wall. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt in this wreck. However, traffic was backed up for miles past Davie Boulevard.
The second car crash took place around the same time in the afternoon, but it happened on the southbound side of Interstate 95, near the Oakland Park Boulevard exit. This Fort Lauderdale car crash involved five vehicles. One of the vehicles involved in this accident was a van that ended up against the guardrail on the west side of the interstate. Local authorities indicated that traffic was backed up past Cypress Creek Road.
Interstate 95 was not closed; however, a few of the lanes were closed in both directions for several hours, which did slow traffic.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, no one suffered serious injuries in either of the accidents.
The Law Offices of Chalik & Chalik are glad to hear that no one was seriously hurt in either of the wrecks. We would like to wish everyone involved in these accidents a complete and fast recovery.
