Two Children Struck by a Car on Their Way to Summer School

It was a scary moment for the loved ones of two children who were hit by a car as they walked to summer school in northeast Florida. The crash happened just after 7 a.m. on Monday.
Just eleven and fourteen-years-old, the two children were struck early on the morning of July 11th as they tried to cross State Road 121 at Jonathan Street in Macclenny, Florida.
It is unknown why the car that struck them, a Ford Focus, did not see the children on the road. Both of the kids suffered injuries, but fortunately did survive this Florida accident.
Sean Douglas Connell was airlifted to Shands Hospital in Jacksonville while his younger sister, Kristen Nicole Connell, remains in a local hospital in serious condition.
Our sympathies go out to the families of the injured children, and it reminds us of the importance of road safety for all.
No charges against the driver have yet been filed.
